Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an American lawyer, jurist, and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She served on the Court from 1993 until her death in 2020. Born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, she grew up in a working-class Jewish family.
From an early age, she demonstrated strong academic ability and discipline, encouraged by her mother, who emphasized the importance of education and independence. Ginsburg attended Cornell University, where she graduated in 1954.
