A Florida nurse has had her medical license suspended after state officials reported that she was involved in highly inappropriate and disturbing sexual conduct with her 15-year-old stepson during the summer of 2024.
Authorities claim that 34-year-old Alexis Von Yates, from Ocala, committed the alleged abuse in July 2024, while the teenage boy was visiting his father in Florida. According to a report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the situation came to light on July 30 after an anonymous tipster contacted law enforcement. The caller claimed that the boy’s father had come home unexpectedly and witnessed part of the alleged sexual encounter.
Following an investigation, Von Yates was arrested on November 6, 2024. She faces serious charges of sexual battery against a minor between the ages of 12 and 18 by a person who held a position of familial or custodial authority. She was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail. However, she was released the next day after posting a $10,000 bond, according to official court documents.
The Florida Department of Health has since taken disciplinary action. This week, the department confirmed that Von Yates’ single-state nursing license was suspended under an Emergency Suspension Order issued on April 25, 2025. Public records show that she had been licensed as a nurse in Florida since January 2016.
In its suspension order, the Department of Health emphasized the level of trust and responsibility placed in healthcare professionals, especially nurses. The statement noted that such individuals are expected to uphold the highest standards of judgment, ethics, and moral character. The allegations against Von Yates, the department said, indicate a severe breach of these expectations.
